Well, this post isn't going to go quite like I had intended.

We hosted an OU vs Utah State party this past Saturday. We had way to much fun. So much fun in fact that I never snapped any photos. So, I'll just give you the highlights.

You know you've thrown a good party when:

1. The Sooners win
2. Your extra toothbrushes come in handy
3. You forget what you're drinking. But that's OK, there's alcohol in it
4. Someone cries
5. A fight breaks out
6. Grandma takes the little one home
7. Seven people get in the hot tub just to prove that seven people can fit in the seven person hot tub
8. You wake up the next morning to find that you forgot to clean the kitchen
9. You contemplate taking a bite of the leftover potato salad...sitting on the kitchen table...all night
10. You wake up and chug Gatorade like you just ran a marathon
11. Beer cans are still on the back patio
12. Your friends call and ask when the next party will be held

I could probably keep going.

I think I still have a hangover.

Not sure what I've got myself into but the next 2 months are going to be a blurr. I have 5 parties I'm hosting.

I need to plan, cook, purchase goods, coordinate and worst of all...clean!

Don't get me wrong, I LOVE parties. And I enjoy having them at my house. So I'm looking forward to hanging out with friends and family while kicking back a few...or more :)

Strawberry Shortcake's Crapper

Ok, I realize that's probably not the correct name but "Berry Happy Bathroom" just didn't seem to fit.

My dolls never washed their hands or fixed their hair in the mirror. They always went to the bathroom to go potty. And usually with their clothes on.

I don't recall them ever getting a bath? It was too hard to get their clothes on and off.

Sophie thinks its funny to make the dollies go potty too. Hers take baths though. With their clothes on.

A Loo for Lads and Lasses

I always despised sharing a bathroom with my brother growing up. I wanted my own. My mom's reply was always, "I don't have my own bathroom. I have to share one with your father." Ugh - hardly the same.

Thankfully, my kids are not yet asking me for their own bathroom. They are 7 and 2. But male and female, respectively. Between the 5-year age difference and the opposite sexes, it was a smidge challenging to come up with some decor that could be considered unisex and could withstand at least the next 4-5 years of their adolescence. i.e., no Disney Princesses, no Indiana Jones, no cartoon characters.

I made a poor attempt of jungle-theme leftovers from the old house. Elephants and Giraffes. Totally means jungle, right?

Notice the ugly towel rack. My kids couldn't reach nor get their towels on it.

Now they each have their own hook. And with their initials above it. I found the metal wire letters at urbanoutfitters.com

Another ugly towel rack. Unusable. Kids couldn't reach it.

Now we have a place for a hand towel. Along with a note from Mom. You know, since I can't be everywhere at once.

The shower curtain is awesome! It's the top 500 SAT words. What better way to prepare than studying while sittin' on the throne?

The fresh flowers did not stay. They are there for the photo shoot only. Did you really think I'd put fresh flowers in the kids bathroom?

Fence for a King

We've been in our house a little over a year. And ever since we moved in, we've despised the fence. Someone, at some point, decided it would be a good idea to paint it burgundy.

Once we finished our patio, this is what we looked out to see.

Yuck Yuck Yuck!

We thought about sanding or even replacing the fence entirely. Or, just wait another 10 years for mother nature to slowly remove the paint?

I feel a little guilty posting this. It wasn't my idea and I did none of the work. But hey, it's my fence too!

Enter the husband and a power washer.

Voila!

Please excuse the landscaping, or lack thereof.

I'm amazed at the difference it made. It's almost new again. Now, we just need to seal it.

This did take about 5 hours total. But, completely worth it...if you ask me :)

We borrowed the power washer from my father-in-law. So technically, this project was free! Unless you want to count all the water we used?

I love that it was made with two coordinating fabris.

Summer Jammies

Children grow. And they grow quickly.

I couldn't stomach just tossing winter jammies since the pants and sleeves would be too short in 3 months.

Ta Da! A few snips and stiches and you have warm weather sleepwear.

I used the extra pant fabric to make the sleeve cuffs.

I have 3 more pairs to tackle before the weekend.

Am I the only mom out there too cheap to purchase new PJ's with the change of seasons?

Lately, my projects have been experiencing issues.

Opted to use chalkboard paint so that I could have a cute little label to identify the contents.

After creating the hole about the size of my fist in the kid's bathroom wall, I headed to Lowe's to figure out how the heck to patch it.

They have these cute little wall patch things that are made out of metal and this thin rope-like material in a grid pattern. Anyway, you stick it over the hole and slap some joint compound on it. Let it dry and sand it. (very messy by the way)

And here it is after I patched and sanded. You'll notice I went ahead and painted. Lucky for you, you are receiving a sneak peak at my color choice.

I painted over this and you can barely see the wound. I still may find some art to hang over this. Otherwise, I'll always notice it.

Look What I Did

I decided to paint the kids bathroom this weekend. It's so plain and boring and now that they don't share the bathroom with guests, I might as well make it their own.

I began by removing the old nasty towel racks. One of the came down nice and easy. The other?

Well, see for yourself.

"Oh fiddlestix!" I exclaimed. And then I shrugged my shoulders and continued whistling Zippiddy Doo Da.

Are you kidding me? I cussed very loudly and threw the towel rack across the room.

As you might imagine, this put a damper on finishing up what should have been a 2 hour project.

And no, I will not be giving a tutorial for patching holes in walls.

Well, I nearly kicked myself when I found Allyson Hill's blog and her tutorial on how to make your own eco travel lid.

Well, it's not my idea but I sure can whip one up! And I love that you can make them for the exact size of your bowls! No droopy wrap getting in your food.

The Clorox Bleach Pen was a bust.

Take Two: I mixed bleach with baking soda until it was a glue-like consistency. And used a very tiny paint brush.

A quick dunk in cold water, a little drying time and presto! It worked!

Bleach bleeds. But the kids dig 'em.

First up, Strawberry Shortcake herself!

So there was a first issue and a second issue doll. First one did not come with Custard, the Cat. Honestly, I don't know which one I had. But I'm going to assume the first issue since I can't find Custard.

I couldn't get mine to stand up because she is missing a shoe. I'm actually quite suprised I didn't lose more of all the doll's shoes.

Do It Myself Art

I'm not an artist. But I wanted a large painting of bright colors.

I started by painting squiggly lines, then large waves, then swirls. And then it happened, the yellow paint touched the red paint. And the green paint touched the yellow paint.

I went a little crazy but I'm content with the painting.

I hung it in our family room.

Where Did the Fork Go?

Well, the original name for this post was "The Fork Goes Where?"

I got the idea from the Queen Bee, Martha: check it out.

I'm trying to teach my kids how to set the table and I figured these would be fun and easy placemats. Martha can't show that the pen she used was a Clorox Bleach Pen but the picture on her page pretty much gives it away.

So, I drew a cute little place setting with my Clorox Bleach Pen, let it set, then rinsed it out.

Um, where did the fork go?

Looks like someone did a switch-a-roo on me and I got the disappearing bleach. How come that never happens with my good pants?

Perhaps this explains why I can't get stains out?

OK, I'll Bite

Yes, I'll admit - I'm a sucker for bright, shiny, new objects. I picked me up a pack of these AH-DOR-AH-BLE diapers while at Target today.

Soph is potty training right now but still wears diapers when we are in public. How cute will these be underneath a little sundress?

These are more expensive than my regular Target brand. But we'll use sparingly.

Shams to Throw Pillows

I purchased a duvet cover a few weeks ago and turned them into curtains.

Turns out, it came with two shams - SCORE!

So lucky me, I made two throw pillows for our recliners.

I'm working on some green pillows for the couch.

I have a love/hate relationship with throw pillows. They look fabulous but no one really uses them...Ending up on the floor...Collecting dog hair.

Crib Sheet to Throw Pillow

Now that Sophie has graduated to a big girl bed, what was I to do with all the crib sheets? And most of her sheets were from Pottery Barn Kids. To much invested to just toss.

So I cut the elastic from the sheet and used the fabric to make a pillow! I used alternate fabric for a bunny.

I cut the bunny blindly and I liked him so much I traced him to have the pattern in case I wanted to use it again. And hell, because I'm cool like that, I'll share it with you.

Minnie Mouse Apron

For all the little girls with play kitchens, this one is for you.

I can't believe how long it takes to write a tutorial! I won't call this a tutorial though since there are probably a thousand ways to accomplish this. So, we'll call it the "Jenntorial".

If you decide to attempt this daunting project, please use for personal use only.

*NOTE* The apron was made for a size 3T.

Start with two large circles (I used a mixing bowl as pattern)
4 small circle (I used a drinking glass)
1 rectangle - 13"x27" (this will be the apron)
One 4"x50" strip (waist band/tie)
two 4"x12" strips (neck strap)
ribbon as embellishment

Take your three strips and fold in .5" on either side and iron.

I don't know the professional way to close up the end but here's how I do it. Take the two corners and fold on the diagonal and iron.

Then fold over .5" and iron again.

Fold the strips in half and iron one more time. Set the longer strip aside and sew the shorter ones closed. (these will be the straps around the neck)

Let's move on to the ears. Take the neck strap and 2 smaller circles and lay them like below. Honestly, this was a little tricky so you can just sew all around the circle and leave a 1" opening. Once you turn inside out you could then insert the strap.

You can see below what it looks like when you put the right sides together. Stitch around the dotted line and then turn right side out.

Once it's right side out, iron flat and then stich around the top edge to close it up.

Do the same to the other two small circles and 2nd shorter strap.

Head of mouse: Take your two large circles and sew them together, right sides facing eachother leaving about a 2" opening. Turn right side out and iron flat. At this point, I realized I wouldn't need a perfect circle so I trimmed about .5" off. (see below). And then stitched around the entire head.

Now take your two ears (notice one has the strap already sewed in and the other doesn't? I had originally tried to do it a different way. Both straps should bew sewed in ears at this point) and pin them on the head where you'd like. Then sew along the dotted line to attach them to the head.

Put that aside and move on to the apron. Take your rectangular piece of fabric and iron the hem. I fold over .5" once, iron, and then fold again and iron.

Sew the hem down.

Do the same thing on both sides of the apron as well and it should look like below.

Next switch your machine to the longest stitch length and sew along the top of the rectangle. And then carefully pull your thread to gather the apron.

Now you'll grab the longer strip of fabric that you've already ironed and carefully pin the gathered apron between the folded strip of fabric.

Once you sew it down, it should look like below. Be sure to fold in the end edges of the long strip and sew those down. This is now the tie for the apron. It's actually kinda cute just like this.

Grab mouse head and pin it to the apron. Now do you see why you didn't need the complete circle? Sew across the top on the dotted line to secure the head to the apron.

If you can catch your toddler, measure the neck straps so that it fits over their head and the apron rests nicely around their neck. Trim the strips and add some velcro. Or you can leave them as is and tie at the back of the neck too. Add a cute little bow for the ear and your done!

Michigan Baby Towel

My cousin and his wife are getting ready for their first baby. They aren't finding out the sex though. Pretty sure I'd go crazy. I found out what both my children were...mainly because they looked like monkeys in the ultrasound and it freaked me out.

My cousin is a huge Michigan fan. Hence, the Michigan baby towel.

This was fun - but I'm not so good with the bias tape. Still need practice. All I did was take a regular sized towel and cut it to an even square. Then took the a hand towel and made a large triangle. I cut the "M" from a yellow hand towel then quasi-embroidered it on.

Sewed the yellow bias tape all around and voila! Fluffy towel for a boy or girl.

If your family and read the blog - sssssshhhhhh - don't let the cat out of the bag!

Twin XL - sucks

You might remember Sophie's bed. It's beautiful but it's still in the closet. It's an XL twin sized bed. We thought about cutting it down, but I don't have the guts. Heck, I already ruined it's value by painting it.

So, we're going to buy a twin xl boxspring and matress.

Dilemma #2 - bedding.

After many Google searches, I've come to realize that fashion and interior designers do not design bedding in the size of twin XL. What's the deal? Are tall people not good enough for you? Do they break all the Feng Shei rules? Or did you just not want to waste all the good fabric on longer beds?

I'm totally bummed. I've found a few sites with some sets but most are for college dorms. Not for precious young toddlers.

Welp, here's what I'm thinking. Anyone have any other ideas?

These two sheets sets I found on PotteryBarnTeen.com. Thank heavens I have a gift card. I'm leaning towards the pink paisley.

I found the skulls at twinxl.com. Rad! But not for a toddler.

Target has this bright and light pink reversable quilt. I'm leaning towards this over a blah comforter.

I found one XL duvet that I liked but it was $99!!! PLUS, I'd have to buy an insert. Whatevah!

And last but not least, lamp #3. While its not the most glamorous, it took me the longest. Years and years and years of dirt and paint.

I almost gave up.

These were all free and they all worked. So I painted the third one red and dressed up the kids toy room.

1st and foremost - Happy Mom's Day to all the mother's out there! Hope you received breakfast in bed - I did not.

I did spend Friday making this cute wristlet for my mom. It was my first time using a zipper and I gotta tell you, it wasn't that bad. If I've learned anything about sewing, it's patience. And with chiffon, it takes patience.

I keep reading that purple is all the rage this year. Apparently, Hancock Fabric didn't get the memo. Because this stuff was on sale!

But it's not what is on the outside that counts...it's what is on the inside!

Just the necessities.

It didn't turn out quite like I had envisioned but functional none-the-less.

I raided my closet and found this dress (never worn)

I took the dress and made a cute little top and shorts for Sophie. I have little sewing experience so it took me a while. The seam-ripper is my best friend.

And this shirt. It makes me look pregnant. And that is never a good thing. Unless of course I really was pregnant - which I'm not. Don't go starting rumors.

I took the maternity-esque shirt and turned it into a fun skirt. Soph had a white tee in her drawer so I used extra material and embroidered on a little birdie!

How I Stain

It's so rewarding to have projects in my home that I've "created" and it's even more rewarding when someone wants to know how I did it!

While this isn't a complete tutorial, I will do my best to describe the process I used for my buffet and for my stair railing.

I've only done one other staining project and that was about 7 years ago and it was a hand-me-down table and chairs. I used stain stripper and it took FOREVER.

Tip #1: Buy a small sander.

I spent about $60 bucks on my Bosch sander and it was the best $60 bucks I ever spent. (aside from the money I paid for epidurals with both my kids). Added bonus - men love power tools. You may receive unexpected help.

I have no method of what sandpaper grit I used. Start out with the heavy stuff and work your way to medium and light. Sanding anything creates dust. Lots of dust. The buffet was sanded in the garage. The stair rails were not removed.

If you're working in the garage, an air compressor comes in handy to blow saw dust off your piece. Our air compressor is obnoxious. But they sell small pancake compressors.

Sanding indoors is a mess. So keep your Shop Vac handy and use a mask. I'd also send the children to grandma's.

The stair rails took longer because of all the small crevices. If you're going to stain, you need to get down to raw wood. Stain stripper can help - just be sure to purchase something environmentally friendly. The fumes on that stuff can be extremely strong and probably not good for you.

After sanding and cleaning up your dusty mess wipe down with a rag and warm water. Use something that won't leave lint. Be sure to let it dry completely.

Next comes the fun part - staining!

Tip #2: Wear gloves & really old nasty clothes.

Oil based stains are a bear to remove from hands. And don't come out of clothes. I used to have just one t-shirt that I called my project shirt. Now, I can't find a t-shirt without paint on it.

I started out using old rags to wipe the stain on. I didn't like that method. So, I switched to a paint brush. I actually had 2 brushes - a medium sized and then a tiny one to get close to edges and in crevices. I'm very anal - actually, I'll use the word precise instead.

I learned not to just dunk my brushes in the stain. Just dip lightly and brush on. Otherwise, you get streaks and stuff. If you do get too much in one spot, just rub with one of those old rags.

I used 2 coats of stain. I also threw the brushes away. I didn't know how to get them cleaned. Truth be known - I'm lazy.

Next, polyurethane

This is the most time intensive part.

1. Brush on.

2. Let Dry.

3. Lightly Sand.

4. Wipe down with warm water.

5. Let dry.

Repeat steps 1-5 until insanity sets in. I believe my buffet took about 7 coats. Stair rails - 2.

Both projects took many days to complete. So you might be wondering, "Jenn, how many paint brushes did you go through?"

Tip #3: You can store your used paint brushes in a plastic bag and in the freezer! Just thaw them out about an hour prior to re-starting your project.

Come to think of it...mine are still in there.

Curtains from a Duvet

The curtains in my family room are thick and heavy. Perfect for fall and winter. But its Spring now and I needed a quick and cheap makeover.

These curtains from Anthropology are light, feminine and airy. If I had my own little cottage with no men around, I'd hang these.

Oh, and if I was wealthy. But neither are true.

So, I found this Duvet cover at TJ Max for $49.99. Still a bit costly but I knew I could get 2 panels from it.

I used two white pillow cases and added to the bottom for added length and texture. I dig ruffles but my family room does not. So, I somewhat pleated them instead.

Tax Return 2010: New Patio

Our new home thankfully has a three-car garage. We've been using the 3rd bay as storage for our bubbly tub for almost a year now.

When we received our tax return, we did what every hard-working, red-blooded American did. ~~We put it in savings.~~ We spent every last penny. Not only did we build a massive concrete patio, we also got the hot tub out of the garage!

We had outdoor furniture everywhere: cramped onto our 10x10 concrete slab, in the grass, in the garden and even some in the garage. Now, everything has a home and Drew has his garage back.

Art from Books

One of the more frugal ways to showcase art in your home at a fraction of the cost is from books. Obviously, you won't have large poster sized art but you will receive multiple smaller pieces.

I adore old school letterpress prints. Hatch Show Print rocks my world. But their prints come with a price tag.

So I took the book and found various frames and started cutting.

This one is my favorite spread. It says "freaks" - and you'll notice my lovely assistant's foot.

I had a large space on the wall of my stairs that needed to be filled. So I filled it.

Note to self: buy new light for the stairs. Sheesh its dark.

I did have to spray paint one of my frames. Unfortunately, I only had gloss paint. I need to redo. However, if you know me, it will most likely stay just as it is above for many many months.

If you look closely, you can see the layer of dust. Upon washing it revealed a stunning beige with black speckles.

Sophie's Bed

My husband's aunt gave us this bed a few months ago. Gave, as in we did not pay her for it. Hand me down furniture (free) is my favorite kind.

I don't remember why I only took a picture of the back?

Maybe it was because of this logo. I tried to do some research on Garver Furniture Company but came up short. It appears this company was only around for a few years and then changed its name. With my luck, it's probably an uber expensive antique and I completely ruined its value by painting it.

I love these rosettes.

And I love black spray paint.

No really, it's a beautiful bed, I swear! There's just one small problem. Or large?

The size of the bed is an x-long twin - of course it is! :(

The picture stinks, the room stinks and last night, my baby girl slept on the mattress on the floor.

Lamp Redo Number 1

We had a garage sale last weekend and my mother in law brought over 3 lamps along with some other stuff to sell. They weren't easy on the eyes and had their fair share of dust. I offered her cash but she resisted and gave them to me - for free! Can't beat that deal.

We'll start with the lamp I cleverly named, "The Monkey Lamp".

I primed and painted him Ivy Leaf green and expected to rub some dark stain on top. But I didn't need to! Gotta love that.

Is it just me, or did his smile get bigger? You'd be smiling too if you were holding a pineapple.

At West End

So yesterday I received a mini-catalog in the mail. I don't know about you but as much as I enjoy shopping online, I get a little giddy when catalogs arrive in my mailbox. There's something tangible and invigorating when thumbing through the pages of Pottery Barn, Restoration Hardware or even Williams-Sonoma. They take me to fantasy land.

Ever heard of At West End? Well, I hadn't. So I wonder how they got my name and address? It was specifically addressed to "Jenn (my last name which shall remain anonymous)" - Most mail I receive comes to "Jennifer (my last name)". So when I see "Jenn" - It feels like they know me.

And I have decided that I am just fine with At West End being personable.

Take the object below for example. I don't smoke, but a fine cigar right now sounds quite lovely. Yes, please.

I've always loved frogs, not the real ones. And I do love wine, the real kind - This makes me heart smile.

Now this is a fun concept. Not sure I'd purchase real artichokes but it sure is pretty. Maybe some oranges or grapefruits. Or what about stryrofoam balls covered in twine or moss?

And who could resist these cute widdle birdies?

Transformer Shirt for a Girl

I love the look of hip, hand embroidered "stuff" - pillows, clothes, bags, tea towels - anything really. I've been researching and trying to teach myself this fine art. I chose to applique a shirt for my daughter and then embroider for a cleaner look.

A couple weekends ago, during all the snow, we were stuck inside. A new project was calling my name.

Country Oak - the color of our stair railing. I think it was hip in the 90's if you were in your late 40's. It's been on the to-do list since we moved in, just wasn't a priority.

Once again, a project that took me nearly 2 weeks to finish.

Crib Caddy to Toddler Bag

Sophie is now 2.5 and we are preparing her for the most challenging event in her life thus far.

The move from crib to a big girl bed.

I actually think I'm having a harder time with it than her. What will I do with all the adorable bedding Grandma made for her?

Below is a crib caddy that I stuffed diapers, wipes and paci's in for those late night changes or fits. It hasn't been on the crib now in about a year since Sophie is constantly pulling at the ribbons.

I was tired of seeing it sitting on the closet shelf. I didn't want it to go to waste. Especially since it has her name embroidered. So I turned it into a cute bag! She loves and uses it to carry all her "goodies". It will probably end up being her overnight bag when she stays with Grandma :)

Buffet: Before and After

Yet another piece of furniture swiped from my boss's "moving sale" a few weeks ago. I desperately needed a place to store my china - given to me by my mother in law. The hall closet is meant for spare light bulbs, kid's art supplies, flash lights, fake florals, portable DVD player, a matchbox car, a size 3 diaper, a tube of lipstick and a few coats and scarves - NOT fine china! Sheesh.

I'm not a professional. I'm the type that has this grand idea and I start a project without researching or investigating on how it SHOULD be done. Instant gratification. Then, once I get started, I've been know to:

A. take short cuts
B. get bored and my project sits in the garage/spare room/on a shelf for weeks
C. drink too much barely infused liquids and really mess it up

And listen, you don't have to remind me of my downfalls, I'm well aware.

Point in case, this buffet. Although I didn't take short cuts, it did take me approximately 3 weeks to finish.

I wanted to keep it's integrity and I'm in love with Red Mahogany right now.

3 coats of stain, approximately 6 coats of polyurethane, new hardware and voila!

You'll notice the hardware looks almost identical. Funny you should ask. NEVER throw away the hardware from an older piece of furniture. Especially with random boring sizes and when the furniture has curves to it. I made that mistake. Thankfully, Van Dyke's Restorers came to my rescue. I located drop handle hardware on their website.

I Heart Jelly Beans

Every Easter I get a little giddy going over to my parents house. My dad always has a bowl of jelly beans on the end table next to his couch.

I had this craving at lunch today for that chewy goodness. So while at the Dollar Store searching for crafty goods, I picked up a bag of generic beans. Not even sure if its a brand. But it's a buck! So I began munching on them in the car except they were a little crunchy.

At the red light, I scanned the back for an expiration date - 10/14/09 - OH NO! Am I going to get sick? How old is too old? Do I continue eating them? Should I throw them out? And why in the world do they still make black licorice beans???

Disgusted and disheartened, I spotted Walgreens..whipped in, parked and marched my jelly bean seeking self to the Easter Candy aisle. I scanned the display shelves and to my dismay, there's not 1 or 2 choices, but more like 12 options! Are you kidding me? Now what do I do?

2 bags for $5.00 - why not? Sweet Tarts and Starburst it is.

When I run out, I'll try Jolly Rancher and Life Savers.

I arrived back at the office a wee-bit late but satisfied.

TIP: leave the dollar stores to what they do best - selling what some might call junk but what others see as a project waiting to happen. Let the expired edibles remain on the shelves.

Skirt for Sophie

I did it! The first article of clothing I've sewn! Aside from pajama pants and a bandana dress. AND, I did it without a pattern. Dang I'm awesome.

What I won't tell you however, is that it took me like 8 hours total. Ok, maybe not that awesome.

When we bought our house last spring, we loved the bonus room over the garage. It's a huge, open space for the kids. The problem is, it's a huge and open space. After purchasing some gently used furniture, adding a fresh coat of paint, and a little organization - the room is done. I'm not 100% satisfied but I probably never will be. *sigh*

We've been busy in the garage...

My Parents had this TV unit for like 20 years. When we moved into our new house last Spring, they kindly gave it to us for the kids toy room. It's a lovely country oak with gold fixtures. Such a beauty.

So I bought this awesome coffee table from my boss. Yes, my boss. Aside from missing hardware and a few bumps and bruises, it's in great condition. The man of the house sanded the entire piece for me. Buy a power tool and you can rope them into any project.

So we've got this closet upstairs. My husband eventually wants to turn it into a bar. (Go figure) However, until our ship comes in, it's mine! Right now, it's not much to look at:

BUT, I have big plans. Currently, all my crafting supplies are stuck in this long, but narrow closet:

I'm excited for my sewing machine to have a permanent space - Dining room table will soon be relieved of its duties! :)

Baby Leg Warmers

I'm in love with baby leg warmers. My daughter doesn't like tights and there's always a fight when it comes to diaper changes. But the designer legs can cost upwards of $12 plus shipping. So I found a blog on how to make them out of ladies knee high socks. So super easy and you can make 3 pairs for about $8.

Start with a pair of knee high socks

Make 4 cuts in socks - see below

Take the largest portion of the foot and reverse fold so that the right sides match. Then sew lengthwise and turn rightside out to form a cuff.

Turn the leg portion inside out and then place the cuff inside until all 3 rough edges match. Place 3 edges in sewing machine and sew them together. I went around the cuff 2 times to ensure it held.

Trim thread, turn right-side out and voila!

I was on a roll and made more. You may notice I goofed a little on the orange and black cuff. But still wearable.

Woo-hoo! The bathroom is complete!

Only took 5 weeks. But after 2 layers of joint compound, 1 coat of brown paint, 2 coats of primer and 2 or 3 coats of white paint ( I lost count), it's finally finished. Whew!

Half Bath

So the half bathroom in our new house left a lot to be desired. Ugly 90's wallpaper with green cabinets and green molding. Oh, and gold fixtures.

The wallpaper tear down removed drywall!!! After 2 coats of joint compound and 2 coats of paint, the walls are done. Now onto the cabinets and molding - 3 coats of primer and 3 coats of paint. And the stain for the cabinets to give it that antique look. Never knew such a small space would take nearly a month to finish. Once we get all the new fixtures in, I will take more pictures to share.
